West Virginia University has reached a settlement agreement with the Big East Conference and will officially begin its full membership in the Big 12 Conference in July. The Mountaineers 2012 football schedule has also been released.

“Our membership in the Big 12 offers WVU significant advantages,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Oliver Luck.

West Virginia battled from a 15-point deficit to tie the game on a Truck Bryant layup with 4 seconds left in regulation, and Bryant then drilled a 3-pointer with 5 seconds to go in overtime to give WVU the 87-84 win over Providence on Sunday afternoon.

Third-ranked Syracuse held off West Virginia 63-61 thanks in part to a controversial no-call on what appeared to be a clear goaltending on the potential game-tying putback by WVU's Deniz Kilicli with seconds remaining. Kevin Jones scored 20 points to lead the Mountaineers.

Kevin Jones was his usual dominant self with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but West Virginia shot an atrocious 35 percent and got trampled by St. John's, 78-62, at Madison Square Garden Wednesday evening.

Kevin Jones continued to dominate the Big East with a 26-point, 13-rebound performance.

Kevin Jones scored 26 points for West Virginia, and Gary Browne hit a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime and a layup to help clinch a 77-74 victory over Cincinnati on Saturday.
