Penn State got within five with 5:48 to play, but couldn’t overcome No. 15 Wisconsin’s 11-of-22 shooting from 3-point range and fell, 65-55, Sunday in Madison.

Wisconsin (20-7, 9-5) opened up a 20-point lead mid-way through the second half before Penn State’s offense warmed up and the Lions’ late charge made it a game.

On Jan. 7, 2012, Penn State introduced their 15th head football coach – just their second in over four decades. Bill O'Brien, formerly the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots, was hired to replace the legendary Joe Paterno.

Prior to coming to State College, O'Brien spent five seasons moving up the coaching ladder in New England.

A tumultuous recruiting season that featured a high-profile coaching change and some big de-commitments made the recruiting process somewhat unusual for typically button-down-and-organized Penn State.

Also unusual was the result—a class that ranks pretty low nationally.

According to recruiting gurus, the result is not a top-25 contingent and perhaps just barely a top-50 class.
