Sidney Crosby was injured in the third period of Friday night’s game vs. Chicago at PPG Paints Arena.

According to Mike Sullivan, it was a “lower-body injury” that was sustained by the Penguins’ captain, and that more information on the extent of the injury would be released Monday.

Crosby left the game with just over 15 minutes left in the third period, and never returned to the bench.

“He’s our captain. Our leader,” said Jared McCann. “Anytime a guy goes down, it’s a tough situation, especially when it’s somebody like Sid.”

Crosby has five goals and 12 assists in 16 games this season.
