By Tony DeFazio | Thu, 04/23/2015 - 15:48

The Unsung Hero award recognizes local high school coaches and student-athletes who have dedicated themselves to sports and academics, but traditionally have not received the deserved attention.
The selection of recipients is based on sportsmanship, scholastics, dedication to the sport and team members, success on the field, relationship with officials, school district personnel, the community, and current and former team members.
APRIL 2015 HIGH SSCHOOL SPORTS UNSUNG HERO:
Megan Paul, Butler High School
Megan finished her high school bowling career by capturing the Pennsylvania girls singles championship last month.
After winning the Western Regional singles title as a junior and placing sixth in the state, Megan rolled a 221 average to earn the No. 1 seed in the finals. Along the way, she rolled a 267-game, the top game rolled among the 24 female participants in the state singles. Megan then defeated Alexis Neuer of Lewisburg 212-185 to win the title.
"Megan is an extremely hard worker who has been very focused on what she wanted to accomplish this year," said Butler head coach Bob Cupp. "That hard work has paid off in her becoming a first team player in the WPIBL and a state champion. Her drive is a great example to others of where hard work can lead you."
The daughter of Alan and Laura Paul of Butler, PA, Megan will attend Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, on a bowling scholarship. She plans to study international business at Lindenwood, home to one of the top college bowling programs in the country.
In addition to bowling, Megan participates in choir, Future Business Leaders of America and the Good Will Ambassadors Club. She maintains a 4.3 grade point average.
CoGo's Regional Manager Al Semmler was on hand at the Butler Track and Field Invitational to present Megan with her award earlier this month.
