
Penn State beats Rutgers

Penn State won their first Big Ten game of the season, shooting 51 percent and forcing 16 turnovers in a 79-51 blowout over Rutgers at the Bryce Jordan Center Saturday afternoon.
DJ Newbill had 23 points, while Brandon Taylor added 16 and Shep Garner 13 as the Nittany Lions snapped a six-game losing skid to improve to 1-6 in the Big Ten and 13-7 overall. Rutgers fell to 2-6 in the conference and 10-11 on the season.
Penn State led 41-28 at halftime and dominated the second half to cruise to the easy victory.
Penn State tries to pull out of the Big Ten cellar when they host Minnesota on Wednesday.
