CoGo's Feature Matchup Game of the Year: Knoch 19, Greensburg Salem 14

Greensburg Salem, perhaps still riding the high of an emotional opening-week upset over Gateway, was slow to get started.
Knoch got on the board first when running back Cody Milsom’s one-yard plunge in the first quarter gave the Knights a 7-0 lead. The visitors took a 12-0 lead when Asa Adams caught a flea-flicker pass from receiver Ryan Grossman.
Milsom scored again in the third quarter to push the score to 19-0 and it appeared as though the rout was on.
Greensburg Salem had another idea, however.
Golden Lions running back Connor Forkey capped a 13-play, 64-yard drive with a 1-yard run to put the Lions on the board.
Late in the quarter, Greensburg Salem forced Knoch to punt, but a bad snap gave the Lions the ball deep in Knighs’ territory. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Greensburg Salem quarterback Brady Mason found Tyler Mathias for a 25-yard touchdown to make the score 19-14.
When Greensburg Salem got the ball back, they began to march down the field. Forkey and Lenny Grebeck took control, leading the Golden Lions all the way to the Knights’ 5-yard line. Facing a fourth and goal, Grebeck got the call on a counter and was headed for the corner when he slipped at the 2-yard line, leaving the frenzied crowd gasping for air.
Knoch took over and drove into Greensburg Salem territory for a field goal attempt and a potential 8-point lead with 1:27 remaining, but the Lions’ Sean Dean blocked the kick, giving the home team one last shot at the win.
Knights defenders Ty Gornick and Cory Godlweski came up with sacks, however, and defensive back Asa Adams intercepted Salem’s Brady Mason on the final play to seal with win.
