US Steel Game of the Week: McGuffey Tops Charleroi

McGuffey quarterback Nate Whipkey had a hand in five touchdowns as the Highlanders blanked host Charleroi 45-0 in an Interstate Conference game. Running back James Duchi added 236 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.

Whipkey was 6 of 11 passing for 153 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 88 yards and two more scores.

The Highlanders defense was dominant as well, holding the Cougars to -1 yard rushing on the evening.

McGuffey held a 3-0 lead through the first quarter and deep into the second, but exploded for three scores—two Whipkey TD passes and one touchdown run—to take a 24-0 lead into the half.

Duchi scored on McGuffey’s first possession of the second half, Whipkey threw a touchdown pass and added the final score on the ground late in the third quarter.
