National Signing Day: Where the Local Players Are Headed

PSR Logo
North Allegheny's Pat Kugler, Belle Vernon's Dorian Johnson, Clairton's Tyler Boyd and Central Valley's Robert Foster grabbed most of the attention, but more than two dozen local high school football players will continue their careers at Division 1 colleges across the country.

Players are able to sign binding letters of intent with programs on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Pitt landed six local players and has a chance at a seventh, depending upon where lairton star Tyler Boyd decides to sign. West Virginia will get three or four western PA players, also waiting on Boyd to make a final decision. Temple (3) and Akron (2) also recruited multiple players from the area.Photo by William McBride

Josh Bell had not hit a walk-off home run since he was a member of the Altoona Curve in 2015. He changed that Friday with a soaring shot for the left field loonies.

Francisco Cervelli is as passionate about the current state of Venezuela as anybody you'll find. Last month, the Pirates' catcher spoke passionately about the movement, his country's state of affairs and the future of Venezuela.
