Some of the most fun I’ve had over the past few months has been the production of the Ellis Cannon Sports Business Report, presented by the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School.

They air daily on KQV Radio 1410, pittsburghsportsreport.com and elliscannon.com. Here’s a sampling – just from December:

The Pitt Panthers are off, as expected, to another strong start to their 2010-11 college basketball season. No shock there as that has become the norm under Jamie Dixon.

His team was rewarded with a preseason top five national ranking.

The Circus is off and running even if it's not destined to stop in Pittsburgh. Still, I'm not going to miss it. No, there won't be any sword swallowers, fire eaters, lions or nuts hanging onto to bars with their teeth...

But this Circus is going to be just as fun. And, in the case of most of us in Pittsburgh, we can still be part of it by simply turning on the television.

Even the casual hockey fan--to the extent that any stull remain here--can see what's going on with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

From just about any perspective, on or off the ice, the Penguins are not only poised for short- and long-term success, but in a manner some enthusiasts would call "perfect."

As Uncle Nick said, “Alice, people will do anything.”

The latest installment was found in an Associated Press story headlined “Competitive lock-picking growing in U.S. popularity.”

Josh Bell had not hit a walk-off home run since he was a member of the Altoona Curve in 2015. He changed that Friday with a soaring shot for the left field loonies.

Francisco Cervelli is as passionate about the current state of Venezuela as anybody you'll find. Last month, the Pirates' catcher spoke passionately about the movement, his country's state of affairs and the future of Venezuela.

Gustav Nyquist and Jimmy Howard led the way for the Red Wings, who landed Pittsburgh its fourth straight regulation loss.

Monday night was more than a game. For Jameson Taillon, it was another heave in an ongoing push to liberation from a disease that can break down the toughest of men.
