Todd Graham today was named the head football coach at the University of Pittsburgh late Monday. Graham will be formally introduced at a news conference on Tuesday, January 11.

Graham is Pitt's fourth head coach since Dec. 6, when athletic director Steve Pederson forced the resignation of Dave Wannstedt, who won 27 games and lost 12 over the past three seasons.

In the wake of the sobering news regarding new Pitt football coach Mike Haywood's domestic violence arrest on Friday, the university's leadership (if indeed such an animal even exists) needs to act swiftly.

Pitt has no choice but to fire Haywood immediately.

New Pitt head coach Mike Haywood is being held in an Indiana jail without bond after his arrest on domestic violence charges on Friday afternoon.

Assistant St. Joseph County Police Chief Bill Redman said Haywood was arrested about 3 p.m. Friday after a custody issue developed with a woman with whom Haywood has a child.

Michael Haywood today was named the head football coach at the University of Pittsburgh, replacing Dave Wannstedt. Haywood, who turns 47 in February, is a Houston native who has been the head coach at Miami-Ohio the past two seasons.

Haywood joins the Panthers after orchestrating the biggest turnaround in major college football this past season as head coach at Miami of Ohio.
