Once, years ago in middle school, I broke up with a girlfriend that I had been dating for a solid two weeks. I did it via email in my sixth-period computer class.

Todd Graham has quit as Pitt's head football coach after just one season to accept the head coaching job at Arizona State. Graham informed his players of his decision via text message sent by a third party. Defensive coordinator Keith Patterson will coach the team in the BBVA Compass Bowl Jan. 7.

"I have resigned my position at Pitt in the best interest of my family to pursue the head coaching position at Arizona State," read Graham's text.

Brandon Lindsey led a Pitt defense that forced six turnovers—three by Lindsey—and Kevin Harper kicked four field goals as the Panthers defeated Syracuse 33-20 at Heinz Field. The Panthers secured a bowl berth with the win.

The script was all-too familiar for Pitt.

West Virginia overcame two fumbled punts and a 20-7 deficit to win what could be the final Backyard Brawl -- at least for awhile -- by scoring the final 14 points to beat Pitt 21-20.

Morgantown—Some are calling it the last Backyard Brawl.

If it is the last one, it is certainly one that the Pittsburgh faithful would like to forget.
