Miami scored on their first four drives of the game and cruised to a 41-31 victory over Pitt in the regular season finale at Heinz Field on Friday. Isaac Bennett rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers.

Things began ominously for the Panthers when Lafayette Pitts fumbled the opening kick, giving Miami the ball at the Pitt 35.

The Pitt Panthers, fresh off clinching bowl-eligibility with a 17-16 win over the Syracuse Orange a week ago, host the Miami Hurricanes at home in their season finale.

The Panthers can finish their first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a .500 record in conference play by beating the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Defensive tackle Aaron Donald was absolutely dominant, blocking an extra point and adding a sack and three tackles for loss to lead Pitt to a 17-16 win over Syracuse in the Carrier Dome, locking up a bowl berth for the Panthers.

The Panthers (6-5) came up with a late defensive stop to seal the victory, as Syracuse’s final pass fell incomplete on 4th down from the Pitt 36.

After a valiant comeback effort fell short against North Carolina, the Pitt football team is not dwelling on what could have been, as the quest for a sixth win and bowl eligibility hangs on their final two games.

The first chance comes Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y., where the Panthers face a familiar foe in the Orange.

Tom Savage passed for 313 yards and two touchdowns as Pitt clawed back from a 27-3 second half deficit to tie the game at 27, but a Ryan Switzer 61-yard punt return for a touchdown—his second of the game—lifted North Carolina to a 34-27 win over the Panthers at Heinz Field Saturday afternoon.

Fresh off a big victory over Notre Dame, the Pitt Panthers meet the North Carolina Tar Heels at Heinz Field on Saturday looking to clinch bowl-eligibility with their sixth win of the season.

Carolina, winners of three straight, has righted the ship after starting the season 1-5. Only one of those victories, however, has come against a team with a winning record (Boston College).

Ray Vinopal intercepted two passes and forced a fumble, Tom Savage threw two touchdown passes to Devin Street, and Pitt upset Notre Dame 28-21 in front of a full house at Heinz Field Saturday night.

It’s an upset in the eyes of the nation. To Panther fans, however it’s about time.
