It’s official: Devontae Watson, the star center for Lincoln Park High School, is a Temple Owl. The 6-10, 195-lb senior signed his letter of intent on November 14th, becoming the first Division-I athlete the performing arts high school has produced.

“It feels good, and I don’t get any special treatment for it,” he said smiling, his braces glinting in the auditorium light. “It’s a great achievement.”

Mack Leftwich ran for five touchdowns and threw for another as North Allegheny rolled to a 40-14 win over State College to advance to the state semifinals. Montour, Aliquippa and Clairton advanced with wins on Friday night.

Quarterback Mack Leftwich scored on a one-yard run in overtime and North Allegheny won the WPIAL Quad-A title 28-21 over Upper St. Clair. Aliquippa beat Jeannette in a thriller to win the Double-A crown, while Montour and Clairton won in routs.

Unbeaten Penn Trafford, led by running back Manny Simpson, hosts Bethel Park this Friday night as the first round of the WPIAL playoffs get underway.

The fourth-seeded Warriors won the Foothills Conference for the first time in a decade this past season, and are a relative newcomer to the top of the Quad-A standings.
