A breakdown of the Steelers' convincing 40-17 win over Tennessee Thursday night, which pushed the team to a five-game winning streak, and a 3.5 stranglehold atop the AFC North standings.

The Steelers wore their “Color Rush” alternate uniforms in Thursday night’s win and it brought them good luck. They abandoned the run game against former Steeler defensive coordinator legend Dick Lebeau, who is now defensive coordinator for the Titans, and it turned out to be a good decision.

Running back Le’Veon Bell racked up more receiving yards (57 on 9 catches) than rushing yards (12 for 46).

Ben Roethlisberger completed 30 passes on 45 attempts for 299 and four touchdowns.

“You can call this a breakout game in terms of points,” Roethlisberger said. “We all kind of felt we were on the verge. Winning the football game is obviously the most-important, but to be able to score in the red zone, put points on the board, to be able to capitalize on some of the defensive turnovers, it feels good.”

Co Player of the Game

Antonio Brown was on the receiving end of three of Roethlisberger’s four touchdown passes. Brown caught 10 passes for 144 yards including a career-high three touchdowns. One touchdown was the

Play of the Game

Brown made a one-handed circus-catch in the corner of the end zone when he caught the ball against his helmet before hitting the ground in bounds. Brown said he was in the zone on that play.

“I was just in the moment,” Brown said. “It was great to come down with that one.”

Early in the second quarter, with the Steelers clinging to a slim 10-7 lead, T.J. Watt preserved the lead when he made the

Ryan Succop attempted a 48 yard field goal but Watt broke through the line, reached out, and swatted enough of the field goal attempt that it traveled about 10 yards and fell harmlessly to the turf.

His teammates on defense also rose to the occasion, holding the Titans to only seven points fueled by four Steeler interceptions.

Sean Davis, Coty Sensabaugh, Mike Hilton, and Robert Golden each had a pickoff of Tennesse quarterback Marcus Mariota, who has had interception-itis this season.

“This is the best, deepest secondary I’ve ever been a part of,” Sensabaugh said. “Guys just made plays on the ball today. Turnovers are big in this game.”
