Steelers report to 2017 training camp on July 27

The Steelers will officially kick off the 2017 season when the team reports to training camp on Thursday, July 27, at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.

This will mark the 52nd year the Steelers will train at Saint Vincent College.

Following are a few notes and highlights about the Steelers’ 2017 Training Camp:
· Sixteen open practices to the public, including the annual night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 4, at 7 p.m.
· The first practice open to the public is scheduled for Friday, July 28, at 2:55 p.m.
· The inaugural Steelers Charity Walk to benefit The Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research on Saturday, July 29, led by honorary co-chairs Joe Greene and Garrett Webster.
· The team’s first practice in pads is slated for Sunday, July 30.
· ESPN SportsCenter On the Road will broadcast LIVE at Latrobe Memorial Stadium for the second consecutive year on Friday, August 4.
· The Steelers will host the team’s first ever open training camp practice at Heinz Field during Family Fest on Sunday, August 6.
· The team’s final 2017 training camp practice open to the public will take place on Friday, August 18.

For the fourth year in a row, the Steelers will feature a “Play 60 Fun Zone” for children in grades 1-12 to participate in at Training Camp. This area will include fun and exciting football-themed activities for 60 minutes each day the Steelers hold practice (3:30-4:30 p.m.). Children will be able to register for the “Play 60 Fun Zone” once campus opens and is limited to the first 200 registrants.

The Steelers will host a youth football team each day at practice. The youth football squad will welcome the Steelers to the field each day while enjoying a skills clinic presented by Dick’s Sports Goods to celebrate Back to Football 2017.

For all practices at Saint Vincent College, fans can enjoy numerous activities on campus, including:

On Friday, July 28, when the Steelers kick off training camp, the team will host a food drive at Saint Vincent College to benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank, collecting non-perishable food donations. The Westmoreland County Food Bank will be accepting donations at their tent on campus from Noon-6 p.m. Please visit www.westmorelandfoodbank.org for more information.

Admission for the team’s night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 4 is $5 for adults 18-65 and $2 for children under 18 and senior citizens. Children under 12 will be admitted for free if accompanied by a parent. Tickets will be sold at the gate and can be purchased in advance by calling 724-539-4236 or in-person at The Greater Latrobe Athletic Office, The Latrobe News Stand, Latrobe Parks and Recreation, and Latrobe Administration Building Lincoln Avenue, Latrobe Pa. Proceeds benefit the Greater Latrobe Athletic Department.
