Michael Young's 30 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks helped the Pitt Panthers snap their eight-game losing streak on Wednesday night with an 83-72 victory over the Boston College Eagles at the Conte Arena in Chestnut Hill, MA.
The Panthers (13-11, 2-9) secured their first conference road victory of the season with a 17-7 run to start the second half, using strong all around play from Young as well as Sheldon Jeter. Both Young and Jeter played aggressively on the glass and attacked the Eagles on offense, getting to the line and getting the Panthers into the groove offensively. Young scored 19 of his 30 points in the second half.
Jeter ended up with 17 points and eight rebounds and Chris Jones added 14 for the Panthers.
Jerome Robinson led the Eagles (9-16, 2-10) with 22 points while Ky Bowman added 15 points and Mo Jeffers added 14 for Boston College.
Pitt's leading scorer, Jamel Artis, scored only six points after suffering a right leg injury. Artis was working with team trainers after he got hurt and briefly returned in the first half however he was not his usual productive self and eventually left the game for good.
Pitt has been playing a lot better with strong road showings against North Carolina and Duke, but their efforts finally resultedin a win.
The Panthers will play host to their arch rivals the Syracuse Orange on Saturday afternoon.
