Gio Vanne Sanders rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 106 yards and two scores to lead visiting Jeannette over Greensburg Central Catholic 49-35 to claim second place in the Eastern Conference.

Sanders threw a pair of touchdown passes to Swade Redman as the Jayhawks rebounded from the loss of leading rusher Kareem Hall in the first quarter to blow out the host Centurions.

Jeannette forced three first-half turnovers en route to a 28-7 halftime lead.

Greensburg Central quarterback Tommy Pellis completed 21 of 36 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns, including two long scoring strikes to receiver Sam Nowicki. Pellis rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, while Nowicki caught 10 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Jeannette scored first when Hall raced to the end zone on their second play from scrimmage, only to be tackled by Central's Alvin Ross in the end zone. Hall limped to the 10-yard line, where he collapsed and ultimately left the game with an apparant ankle injury.

Greensburg Central responded with a quick touchdown and took a short-lived 7-6 lead.

A Ross fumble and two inteceptions by Pellis led to quick Jeannette scored as the Jayhawks took a 28-7 lead into the half and extended it to 35-7 on a Redman TD run early in the third quarter.

GCC leading rusher Alvin Ross was held to 51 yards on 18 carries but had a 75 yard first-quarter run called back on a holding penalty. GCC had seven penalties for 58 yards.

The win clinches a home playoff game for Jeannette while Central will open the postseason on the road.
