Gerrit Cole Debuts at Double-A

Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole, the team's No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft, made his double-A debut with the Altoona Curve on June 20, a 9-4 win over New Britain. Cole pitched five innings and allowed only two runs on five hits, striking out six without walking a batter. His fastball topped out at 99 MPH in the win.
