Pirates prospect Gerrit Cole

Former Pirates No. 1 pick Gerrit Cole talks about his promotion to double-A Altoona. Cole debuted with the Altoona Curve on Wednesday, June 20.

Cole's 2012 campaign began with the High-A Bradenton Marauders, where he went 5-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 13 starts spanning 67.0 innings. The righty struck out 69 batters in his 67 innings of work while limiting opponents to a .217 batting average against in his time in the Florida State League. His efforts earned him a selection to the FSL All-Star Game.
