Second-year tight end violated league policy

Steelers tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended four games by the NFL for a violation of an undisclosed league policy. The suspension will be enforced the first four games of the 2012 season.

Saunders will miss the first four games of the 2012 season.

A second-year tight end from South Carolina, Saunders played in all 16 games and caught four passes for 29 yards and a touchdown last season.

Saunders left South Carolina after his junior season when he was thrown off the team and went undrafted, though he was considered one of the top tight ends in the draft. He showed considerable  promise as a rookie after signing with the Steelers in July, following the end of the NFL lockout.
