Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson was burned in a fire in his Seven Fields home overnight.

Firefighters were called to Mr. Wilson's home after 3 a.m. The cause of the fire, which started in the kitchen, remains under investigation. Wilson was transported to the hospital with burns that doctors considered "moderate to severe."

"First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with Kirby and his entire family," said Steelers President Art Rooney II in a statement. "We are saddened to hear about this unfortunate situation but we know that he has the best medical care in the country treating him. The entire organization is praying for Kirby to have a full recovery and we will be by his side through this difficult time."

Wilson, 50, is in his fifth season as the Steelers running backs coach.

The Steelers play their first-round playoff game Sunday afternoon in Denver.
