Pitt-Duquesne basketball game will be played on November 30 at Consol Energy Center

PITTSBURGH—The 79-year old City Game basketball series between the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University will be renewed on Wednesday, November 30 at the CONSOL Energy Center. Pitt will announce game dates, tipoff times and television information for its entire schedule at a later date.

Presented by Baierl Kia, the neutral site contest marks the second matchup between the two programs at CONSOL Energy Center. Last year, Pitt claimed an 80-66 decision in the arena’s inaugural college basketball game.

“We are thrilled to have the City Game returning,” said Jay Roberts, CONSOL Energy Center General Manager. “Our building continues to be a marquee showplace for college basketball and the Pitt-Duquesne matchup is the opportunity to tipoff our slate of college basketball games as we continue our preparations for the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball Second and Third Rounds in March.”

The CONSOL Energy Center will host the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament First & Second Rounds March 15-17, 2012.

In the 79-game series between the two schools separated by two miles, Pitt holds a 48-31 all-time record. Pitt enters its 2011 matchup after winning each of the series’ last 10 games and has claimed 29 of the series’ last 32 games. Pitt and Duquesne met 35 times at Mellon Arena since 1966 with the Panthers holding a 21-14 all-time advantage.

Pitt season ticketholders will have the opportunity to purchase City Game tickets beginning today, August 1. City Game ticket information was sent to all Pitt season ticketholders via e-mail on Friday, July 29. All other Pitt ticket information can be accessed at the Pitt website: http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/tickets/pitt-tickets-m-baskbl.html.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 26, at 10 a.m. at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Box Office at CONSOL Energy Center, ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.
