Pitt lands elite quarterback recruit

Chad Voytik, considered one of the top 10 high school quarterbacks in the country, has committed to the University of Pittsburgh.

Tennessee quarterback Chad Voytik, whose father's family hails from Sharon, PA, has verbally committed to play football for Pitt.

The 6-1, 200-pound Voytik chose Pitt over Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. He also had offers from Clemson, Louisville, Virginia, Wake Forest and Syracuse among others.

Rated as a the top quarterback in Tennessee and one of the top 10 in the country, Voytik threw for 1,850 yards and 17 touchdowns last season and added 440 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. As a sophomore, he threw for 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns.

He is the 10th player from the class of 2012 to commit to Pitt.
