Quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg of St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia committed to Penn State on Tuesday afternoon, choosing the Nittany Lions over Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois and Stanford.
Mornhinweg, 6-3, 185-pounds, is the son of Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. He completed 110 of 229 passes for 1,546 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and was named first-team all-Catholic League.
The one-time Stanford recruit de-committed from the Cardinal when Jim Harbaugh decided to leave Palo Alto for the NFL.
He is Penn State's 11th commitment and their first skill position player in the Class of 2012.
