Bonelli adds four to men's soccer roster

Rock men's soccer coach Michael Bonelli has announced the addition of four more recruits that will join the program this fall, including two decorated transfer students and two international players.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University head men’s soccer coach Michael Bonelli has announced the addition of four more recruits that will join The Rock program this fall.

“We are very pleased to add these four players to our roster for this fall,” said Bonelli. “We feel that this group, mixed with our other six recruits and our returning players is going to make us very competitive this year.”

Among the four recruits that will join the program, two are American-born transfers from Cincinnati State, while the other two are international players.

Of the four players, perhaps the most highly touted is junior midfielder Cody Clark. Clark was a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American at Cincinnati State, where he also earned NJCAA All-America honors last fall.

Joining Clark from Cincinnati State is sophomore midfielder Chris Nieto, who brings a decorated high school resume from his high school career at Lake Highlands near Dallas, Texas.

Stephen Donnelly, a freshman forward from Dublin, Ireland and Brandon Chiu, a freshman midfielder from Pickering, Ontario, Canada round out the new additions.

The Rock will open the 2011 season Sept. 1 at Ashland before opening their home schedule Sept. 4 against Washington Adventist.

For the last few seasons, I have made sure that I left a few days between the draft itself and my first major reaction to it. It helps to leave a little time to digest it after the three-day marathon that is the NFL Draft.

My 4-year-old son, Walker, has become just that -- a walker -- whether he or his preschool teachers always like it or not. Regardless of the weather, Walker and I usually return home by foot from his preschool.
