Valley View High School linebacker Nyeem Wartman gave a verbal commitment to Penn State on Tuesday. The 6-2, 228-pound Wartman chose the Nittany Lions over Florida, Boston College, Illinois, Rutgers and UConn.
Wartman also plays tight end but projects as an outside linebacker at the next level. He had 115 tackles for Valley View last season. He also possesses outstanding speed, as he proved in the spring by running a hand-held 10.9 in the 100-meter dash.
Wartman is the eleventh commitment from the class of 2012 for Penn State. He is the second linebacker in the class and the Lions' third verbal from Pennsylvania.
