Pitt junior wide receiver Mike Shanahan has been named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, announced the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

The Biletnikoff Award is given to the nation’s most outstanding wide receiver. Shanahan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Irwin), who enters the 2011 season as Pitt’s top returning receiver, joins the group of 75 honorees on the preseason watch list.

In 2010, Shanahan recorded 43 receptions for 589 yards and one touchdown for an average of 13.7 yards per reception. In his young career, Shanahan has totaled 800 yards receiving on 58 catches for Pitt.

The Panthers will open the 2011 season on Sept. 3 as they host Buffalo at Heinz Field. For ticket information, contact the Panthers Ticket Office at 800-643-PITT (7488) or log on to www.PittsburghPanthers.com.
