The Colonials and Tigers to play in front of a soldout ISC

Saturday’s men’s hockey contest between Robert Morris and RIT will be played in front of a packed house as Robert Morris University announced Thursday that the game has sold-out.

Robert Morris enters the weekend in second place in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) standings behind RIT, who has already claimed the regular season AHA crown. The two teams have already played twice this season with the Tigers winning both contests in thrilling fashion. RIT has never defeated Robert Morris at the Island Sports Center and the Colonials hold a record of 8-1-3 on the “Island” this season. Saturday the Colonials will celebrate senior day as Nathan Longpre (Peterborough, Ontario / Mahoning Valley Phantoms), Denny Urban (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ohio Blue Jackets), Brock Meadows (White Rock, B.C. / Salmon Arm Silverbacks), Chris Kushneriuk (Ottawa, Ontario / Orleans Blues) and Scott Kobialko (Spruce Grove, Alberta / Camrose Kodiaks) will play their final regular season game on Robert Morris’ home ice.

The last time Robert Morris took on RIT was Dec. 30 inside the CONSOL Energy Center as part of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Winter Classic Week. The attendance for that game was the largest for a home Robert Morris hockey game and second largest home attendance for any Robert Morris athletic event ever.

Seating has been expanded to include extra seats but those tickets were also quickly claimed. With the sellout, the Colonials have soldout their last two home games. In conjunction with the sellout, Robert Morris plans to expand its coverage of Saturday’s game. The live radio call of Saturday’s game can be heard on Pittsburgh Penguins HD radio and at RMUColonials.com. A live video stream of Saturday’s game can be view at B2networks.com and during the action on Saturday, at RMUColonials.com, a live interactive chat between fans and RMU insiders will be held.

The Colonials and the Tigers will faceoff Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Island Sports Center.

Josh Bell had not hit a walk-off home run since he was a member of the Altoona Curve in 2015. He changed that Friday with a soaring shot for the left field loonies.
