Joe Namath was the NFL’s first true media superstar.

After a scoreless first inning, Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli tripled and scored on a Neil Walker flyball to right field to put the first run on the board.

It all began with McCutchen hitting his 32nd double of the season to drive in Josh Harrison, who drew a leadoff walk, in the top of the first inning to give the Pirates a quick 1-0 lead.

Vick is entering his 13th season in the NFL in 2015.

Miami’s Dee Gordon tied a career high with four stolen bases as the Marlins beat Pittsburgh for the first time in five meetings this year.

Polanco was one hit short of equalizing his career high of five, which ironically came against Marlins at Miami last year in just the fourth game of his major league career.

“[It] was the biggest sequence of events of the night,” manager Clint Hurdle said. “Kept the game in check and tipped it our way in a momentum standpoint.”
