![]() 2010 U.S. Women's Open Event Day GuideThe 2010 U.S. Women's Open will take place July 5 through July 11 (practice rounds July 5-7) at the historic Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA. It is the fifteenth USGA Championship and second U.S. Women's Open to be held at Oakmont. Patty Sheehan won the event there in 1992. Over 150 golfers are expected to participate including most of the top women's players in the world including top-ranked Jiyai Shin, American Cristie Kerr, Anna Nordqvist of Sweden, defending champion Eun-Hee Ji, and crowd-favorite American Michelle Wie. The event was founded 57 years ago and only 37 golfers participated in its inaugural tournament in 1953. The format is 72-hole stroke play with the low 60 and ties plus anyone within 10 strokes of the leader after the second round make the cut and play over the weekend. TICKETSOver 100,000 fans are expected to attend the week-long event and many single tickets and ticket packages are still available. To order tickets, call 1-877-281-OPEN, Ext. 5. A weekly pass is $150. A four-day package for the championship round (Thursday through Sunday) is $135. Daily passes for Thursday through Sunday's tournament rounds are $45 Daily passes for Monday through Wednesday's rounds are $20. Trophy Club weekly pass includes admission each day and access to the Trophy Club pavilion near the fifteenth hole. Trophy Club daily pass is $65 Thursday through Sunday, $30 Monday through Wednesday. WHERE DO I PARK? Free parking is available at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills off Route 28, exit 12A, so plug in "500 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Tarentum, PA, 15084" as the coordinates for GPS users. Continuous shuttle bus service will run between the Galleria and the country club throughout the tournament. Wheelchair and handicapped service will be available via the shuttle service and throughout the course. Free handicap scooters will be available at the main gate of the event. DURING THE WEEK Highlights during the week include a junior clinic on Monday morning featuring Tour player Brittany Lincicome, a celebrity exhibition on Tuesday afternoon featuring Franco Harris and Lynn Swann and one on Wednesday featuring Jerome Bettis and honorary chairman Arnold Palmer. TV COVERAGEA U.S. Women's Open preview show will air on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Live TV coverage to more than 100 countries around the world airs on ESPN2 Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on NBC Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm to 6 p.m. In 1965, the final round of the championship was televised nationally for the first time. The event has been televised since, with all four rounds now broadcast. ON THE COURSE Autographs are permissible, but not while golfers are playing their rounds. No camera cases are permitted but cameras are allowed Monday through Wednesday only. No cell phones, PDAs and mobile e-mail devices, coolers, large bags or backpacks are permitted on the grounds throughout the week. Diaper and infant supply bags are permissible if bringing infants and strollers to the event. No food or beverages can be brought into the event. Concession stands will be available throughout the golf course. An 8,000 square foot on-site merchandise tent will be open throughout the event selling caps, tee shirts, golf equipment, etc. bearing the 2010 women's open logo.
