Sports Whiz Trivia - April 2009
By Harry Patterson

For awhile there it looked like a tough season for the Pens. With this late surge-who knows? There's one guy who works for the team who has pretty much seen it all there. We can only be talking about Eddie Johnston who was recently honored for his twenty-fifth season with the team. His overall hockey career straddles the Original Six era and the thirty-team 21st Century. Let's look back on the remarkable hockey life.

1. What distinction did EJ achieve as a goalie with the '63-64 Bruins, the last time this was done?

2. Can you name the other three NHL teams he tended goal for?

3. EJ was the third goalie for Canada against the Russians in the legendary Summit 72 series. Can you name the two future Hall of Famers who played ahead of him?

4. His first NHL head coaching gig was with the Blackhawks in '79-80. Can you name the other future Pens GM who was his main goalie?

5. Who was his first draft choice when he became GM for the Pens?

6. How about his next first round choice, the following year?

7. EJ's time with the Pens was interrupted by a three-year stint as GM for which team?

8. Who did EJ replace when he pulled his second stint as Pens head coach?

9. Who replaced him during the third season for that second stint?
