Q&A with Nate McLouth
By Joe Giardina
What was your initial reaction when you found out you were selected for the All-Star Game?
"Excited obviously, it's a good opportunity. I called my parents and told them and they were equally excited."
Did you have any big plans during the break that you had to cancel because of your selection?
"I was going to go home and take a couple days off and kind of recharge my batteries but I'll gladly change those plans."
Will your first All-Star selection be anymore special being in New York? And do you plan on stealing anything as a memento?
"It would be special if it was anywhere. But being at Yankee Stadium, a different venue and in its last year, it will be neat. I might [steal something], but probably not."
Does it mean more getting voted in by the players as opposed to the fans?
"Yeah that's pretty special when the Major League players think you're good enough to represent the National League in the All-Star Game. It feels good. I'm just really anxious, being in the same clubhouse as all the stars, it will be awesome."
Did you get any advice from players who have previously been selected to the All-Star Game?
"Yeah, just to take it all in an enjoy it as much you can and to just have fun."
