5. Tony Dorsett and the Pitt Panthers clinch the National Championship against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans (the game was played on Jan. 1, 1977).

6. The Pens win their first Stanley Cup against the North Stars in Game 6.

7. The Braves beat the Pirates in Game 7 of the NLCS on…oh, never mind.

8. The National League beats the American at Three Rivers Stadium as third base coach Jim Leyland waves in Tony Gwynn for the winning run. Since there was no post-season that year this was arguably the baseball highlight of the year.

9. Francisco Cordova and Ricardo Rincon combine for a ten inning no-hitter as the Buccos beat the Astros at a sold out Three Rivers Stadium.

10. The Cowboys beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh's only Super Bowl loss.
