Facing Off Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Tom Barrasso
Tom Barrasso was the fifth overall pick of the 1983 NHL Draft, at the time the highest a goalie had ever been selected. Barrasso went straight from Acton-Boxborough high school to the Buffalo Sabres and was an immediate success, winning both the Calder and Vezina trophies in his first season. He turned the Penguins' fortunes around when he was traded to Pittsburgh in 1988 and was a key to the team's two Stanley Cup season in 1991 and 1992.
Twenty years later, the Penguins made 18-year-old Marc Andre Fleury the first pick of 2003 NHL Draft. After a couple of tough seasons, the man teammates call "Flower" bloomed in 2006-07, recording one of the best single seasons in team history when he joined Barrasso as the only goaltenders in team history to win 40 games. After returning from an ankle injury this past season, Fleury has played the best hockey of his career. His .955 save percentage through the first round of the playoffs was the NHL's best.
