SPORTS WIZ TRIVIA
APRIL '08

Remember when baseball seemed to be the only sport that stayed interesting in the off-season? Not any more. With the season now leaking into February and the draft, scouting combine, mini-camps and free agency, it's the NFL that owns the sports calendar. The Steelers made their biggest off-season news in years last month by signing Ben Roethlisberger to a long-term, big-money deal. It's hard to believe he'll be entering his fifth season. I suppose it's not too soon to look back at this guy, now signed through 2015. Here's to hoping he will one day be the answer to the trivia question, "Name the oldest quarterback to start a Super Bowl."

1. Who threw for more yards-Joe Namath of the New York Jets in 1967 or senior Ben Roethlisberger of the Findlay High School Trojans in 1999? (Note: Both were team records.)

2. We'll never have to hear "Steelers coulda had Roethlisberger" after the team drafted him 11th overall in 2004. Can you name the two QBs taken before him and the one taken after in the first round that year?

3. Ben entered his first Steelers training camp as the No. 3 QB. Name the first two.

4. Who caught his first NFL TD pass?

5. Whose NFL rookie record for completion percentage did Ben shatter?

6. Ben's 13-0 NFL record for best start by a rookie QB buried that set by Mike Kruczek of the 1976 Steelers. How many wins did Kruczek have?

7. We all remember Ben's sneak TD in Super Bowl XL. Did any other Steeler QB score a TD in a Super Bowl?

8. Who is the only QB, other than Ben, to lead his team to three road playoff wins?

9. Ben is the youngest QB to win a Super Bowl. Who held that distinction before him?

10. He is the second youngest to start a Super Bowl. Who remains the youngest?
