Local Players In Draft
Compiled by Greg Washington
Levi Brown, OT
Penn State 6'5" 323
Experienced with prototypical size, strength. Technique needs
refined, especially in pass protection. Should be top 15.
Darrelle Revis, CB
Pitt 6'0" 194
Impressive athleticism, fluid motions and solid instincts. Contributions
as a punt returner increase value. Silenced his critics after
running three sub-4.4 40s at his pro day.
Paul Posluszny, LB
Penn State 6'1" 237
Instincts and fearless mentality separate him, as well as quickness
in recognizing plays. History of injuries are slight concern.
Could play inside in the right scheme. Easily a mid-to-late first
round pick.
Tony Hunt, RB
Penn State 6'1" 239
Tough, powerful downhill runner with decent hands. More than likely
would be most effective as a complementary back. Could sneak into
the early second round.
Tim Shaw, LB
Penn State 6'1" 233
Lacks the lower body power and ball skills to start at the next
level. Has good instincts and a solid work ethic which should
translate into success on special teams.
H.B. Blades, ILB
Pitt 5'10" 237
A bulky, solid tackling machine with excellent instincts. Small
frame and short arms hurt his value at the NFL level. Can contribute
on special teams and as a backup linebacker.
Jay Alford, DT,
Penn State 6'2" 285
Lacks ideal size. Quick and powerful for his size, so teams that
like speed over size may show interest.
Tyler Palko, QB
Pitt 6'0" 215
Has the mobility, toughness and football IQ to be a solid backup
for the next several years. Short frame, shaky mechanics and inconsistent
pocket poise will hurt him.
Steve Breaston, WR
Michigan 6'1" 180
Woodland Hills grad is electrifying with the football because
of his speed, quickness and great field vision. Durability and
struggles against physical d-backs are major concerns. A day-two
selection whose future is returning punts.
Dan Mozes, C
WVU 6'3" 293
Undersized yet he has always performed at a high level. Smart
player with great instincts, intangibles and excellent versatility.
Luke Getsy, QB
Akron 6'2" 226
Munhall kid reads defenses well, has nice touch on his deep ball
and is intelligent. Lacks necessary arm strength to throw outs
and has a slow release.
Kevin McLee, LB
WVU 6'1" 244
Uniontown native is intense but lack of ideal size hurts him,
plus he is poor in coverage. Could be a special teams standout.
Probable free agent. |
