Who's Good, Who's Hot By Vito Stellino
All three were 11-3 and if one or more of them goes 13-3, that team will be favored to win the Super Bowl.
Going 13-3 in this age of parity is an impressive accomplishment. In Philadelphia's case, they'll be doing it with a second or third string quarterback because Donovan McNabb is injured.
The last team to win the Super Bowl with a backup because its starter was injured was the New York Giants with Jeff Hostetler when Phil Simms was injured late in the season.
The Ravens won the 2000 Super Bowl with backup Trent Dilfer, but he came on when Tony Banks was benched.
If more than one of the three teams goes 13-3, that will make for an interesting duel in the playoffs although the Eagles have the edge at home field advantage in the playoffs if they win their final two regular season games.
Considering the fact that Veterans Stadium is a tough place to play, the Eagles would then be heavy favorites.
Green Bay would also be a heavy favorite if it gets the home field because the Packers have never lost a home playoff game. For Tampa Bay, road playoff games can be a killer because the Bucs have never won in freezing weather. But their home field edge wouldn't be as great because of the ideal weather conditions.
If you're looking for a team that started slow but is now on a streak, the team to watch is Tennessee. After a 1-4 start, the team has gone 8-1. Its overall 9-5 mark isn't that impressive but the 8-1 record is.
So if you're looking for teams likely to win the Super Bowl, pick one of the 11-3 teams in the NFC or the Titans. Those teams have history on their side.
